Welcome to the MLB PowerPros Project. This project should have been easy to get off the ground, but boy is it a long and stupid story.
The inspiration is simple enough. I was lucky enough to stumble onto the Western Illinois college basketball simulation by Ricky O'Donnell right when it started. There were no sports going on at the time, and my first thought was "Oh, that's interesting. I can do that with baseball." And MLB PowerPros 2008 right in the forefront of my mind. I adore this game. It has cutesy, anime-esque or chibi graphics, but it is a surprisingly deep baseball game. So I thought I would create a team, then watch the computer play through a season with them to see how they did. Creating a team was very time consuming. If you know about this game, you know creating players requires you to play through a RPG-inspired story mode. So that's 25 successful playthroughs of the story, along with several failed attempts at trying to create just the right player. To see all the game recaps, go to the Menu in the upper left and then to The Games. |
